The NECA ELECTRI International Green Energy Challenge marks a yearly highlight for NECA Student Chapters across the country. Teams are challenged to integrate renewable energy and/or electric vehicle charging deemed appropriate by the team and facility owner, as well as; additional electrical or mechanical improvements appropriate to the facility. An emphasis is also be placed on the construction planning and management of the project.
Our own San Diego State NECA Student Chapter team participated and ranked a respectable fourth out of 15 competing universities. The top three finalist will now head to NECA 2013 Washington DC National Convention and enter the final stage of the competition before a panelist of judges to determine the overall winner. In addition the remaining teams including SDSU, continue to compete in the project promotion challenge earning cash scholarships.
For their stellar efforts and continued dedication, we wish to recognize our own Team Aztec comprised of the best and the brightest from San Diego State University’s J.R. Filanc Construction Engineering and Management Program under the direction of Dr. Thais Alves along with team members Jordan Kennedy, Ana Sical, Eliseo Gutierrez, Aaron Nickovich, and Masha Volhina.
