San Diego Electrical Training Center

Workforce and Training

Each year, hundreds of ambitious men and women in San Diego and Imperial Counties have the opportunity to get a top-notch education and gain valuable work experience through our San Diego Electrical Training Center’s specialized apprenticeship programs.  Good labor relations policies allow NECA and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW 569) to work together to support our joint training center, which is the most technologically-advanced facility of its kind in California.  As apprentices at the San Diego Electrical Training Center, students attend demanding college accredited classes and develop skills through computer learning, tools, labs, and then immediately apply their skills in the real world- every day.

Earn while you learn

Apprentices earn excellent wages while receiving a top-notch “free” education.

Health and retirement benefits

Receive premier healthcare benefits for themselves and their dependents along with an excellent pension plan.

A career you can take anywhere

Our apprenticeship programs are approved by the State of California Division of Apprenticeship Standards and nationally recognized by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the National Electrical Contractors Association.  The SDETT has been recognized by the United States Bureau of Apprenticeship Training as a model for programs all over the world.

Helmets to Hardhats Partnership

The San Diego Electrical Training Center is approved for VA benefits and works in partnership with Helmets to Hardhats, a national program that connects transitioning active-duty reservists and veterans with Union jobs.  Applicants with electrical or electronic military training can automatically bypass some of our entrance requirements.

Even without the related training, military veterans are still ideal candidates for our apprenticeship programs.  Students with military experience have the drive, commitment, and work ethic needed to excel in our programs.
